Polk Audio RC60i In-Ceiling / In-Wall Speakers (Pair, White)

I was looking for surrounds for my new 7.1 theater in the basement. I spent way too much on the front 3 and sub, so I was looking for a way to cut back a little without sacrificing too much in sound. Fortunately, these low end Polk RC60i speakers fit the bill perfectly. I have heard some other in ceiling speakers in this price range and was wary of what the competition was offering. I was pleasantly surprised when I had these Polk RC60i speakers installed and hooked up to my AVR. Now, although they are rated for 20-100 watts per channel per the Polk Audio website, my AVR pushes 140 WPC @ 8 ohms and the RC60i's handled the extra power flawlessly. Before I had the entire 7.1 system installed, I ran a pair of these as the fronts and was able to turn the volume up quite loudly without any audible distortion. Installation was easy (I bought a drywall "circle cutting" tool from Lowes that made things a LOT easier). The most important steps occur BEFORE you cut the drywall. Plan and mark

Bose Virtually Invisible 191 speakers

I recently installed the Bose 191 speakers in a new basement finish, and have finally had a chance to test them. The clarity of the speakers on the higher end is very good, but what is immedately noticable is the rich bass that fills the room. I am not an audiophile, but I am picky about what I hear, and for what I intend for these speakers they are perfect. This will be a game room with the speakers wall mounted. For my initial test, I turned on Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" (a song by which any good speaker system should be judged) and made it nice and loud. Passed with flying colors!

I was being cheap and got these speakers. They're good for the price, but they only have mid-range responses. So you must have a good Center speaker and a sub woofer to go with these! Otherwise you'll have a hard time hearing what people are saying (the highs) or feeling the thunders (the lows).

A little bassy compared to my Polk TSi100 front speakers, but that's ok. Over time you get it all balanced out. Definately good enough for a high end set of surround sound speakers. Can't beat the quality for the price. I'd even use them as fronts if I were looking to start over. Hmmm, maybe I WILL do that. :-)

Polk Audio RC80i 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair, White)

I have these speakers installed in the ceiling of a clothing store. They look great, and sound decent. I'm sure the sound could be better, but unfortunately our ceilings are composed of tiles. This means that they would sound much better if installed in drywall, or even better, MDF. All things considered, however, these are great little speakers for my purpose. Would I use these in a home theater or any serious speaker setup? No. But then again, I would never use in-wall/ceiling for anything serious. These are good though if you need something that looks nice and stealthy, and sounds nice.

I went to a local super electronics store and listened to all they had. To beat this speaker system the price jumped by at least $100. Unfortunately the super store was out of stock on this speaker so I spent a few hours surfing the www and found my best deal from a vendor here at Amazon. The instructions are clear and installation was simple. The slightest overtightening of the mount screws does distort the frame and impairs the grille installation but just back them off and it will work. Mine are installed about 2 feet away from each side of my flat screen tv and do a great job of enhancing the sound. I do have a slight hearing loss and these speakers are sufficiently sensitive to tone adjustments and compensate very well (my apologies to my neighbor). If you are an extreme sound buff and can easily afford the $500 models I say go for it. For Mr. Practical and just over $200 this set is a very nice package.

Polk Audio RC6s In-Ceiling Stereo Speaker (Single, White)

The POlk RC6 is okay for a single duplex speaker, granted in is a difficult situation to work with only a single stereo speaker. Use this only where you have to, if you are perticular about the quality of sound. The RC6 is Manufactored to the standards you assume you get from Polk, and looks good as a finished product in the ceiling. My problem with the sound is am use to the Polk RCI80 paired speakers, and you can not come close to that with a single 6" plus Duplex Speaker.

I'm giving these speakers a 1 star only because there are so many 5 star ratings that isn't deserved. Otherwise I'd give these speakers a 3 star.

I purchased a set of these from Amazon for a surround sound based on the many recommendations. Because they come in pairs I stopped off at the local Fry's store to buy a single center speaker to complete the set. Fry's had all of the Polk series setup in their sound room so I compared them. After listening the RC60i, and then listening to the TC60i I have to say I regret buying the RC60i. The TC60i makes these speakers sound flat and the quality approaches that of a mid quality boom box while the TC60i sounds fantastic. The salesman told me that the RC60i are Polks entry level ceiling speaker.

If you can afford the extra money and are installing into the ceiling, buy the TC60i. If you are mounting in the wall stay with the RC60i as they are not as deep.

Another consideration too is that if you are putting these in the ceiling and have blown

These speakers are awsome. They come in pairs and you can swap and rotate them with the rectagle or round cover that uses the same size hole. I need to go get another pair for the front surround sounds. They are worth the cost...

The speakers installed easily and sounded good. In fact, because I didn't have time to do the job all at once, I had to put them in to cover the holes, then remove them to run the wires and re-install them. The wall-mounting mechanisms reliably installed and uninstalled each time. The aim-able tweeter is a little "notchy" but moves firmly. The removable grills fit securely. All that said, the speakers at an MSRP of $250 are overpriced, but if available on discount are a good deal.

Yamaha NS-IW360C 2-Way In-Ceiling Speaker System, White

I bought these Yamaha speakers and a pair of Phoenix Gold ATc6 6.5-inch. I put one set in my kitchen ceiling, the other set in my dining room. Both were powered from the same amplifier, and I used thermal insulation in the back of both sets. My wife and I are not audiophiles, but we both agreed the Yamaha's had a richer, more solid sound. Easily was worth the $20 price difference. I gave 4-stars, rather than 5 because the grills were tricky to attach using glue sticks; otherwise installation was a a breeze.

I put this speaker in my bathroom above the shower and it sounds great. If you are unable to place two speakers in an area, I would recommend this speaker. It really sounds great. The sound is great and it has plenty of bass, which I was a little worried about.

These were a husbandly-compromise, as my wife was adamant about not having a big bass unit in the newly refurbished living room. They're not quite as great as advertised, especially on the bass, but they do have as small a profile as you could want, especially if you paint the grills (and you get a choice of round or rectangular) the same color as the wall. The only objection is that although I used the Bose mounting plates before sheetrocking, they do not lie absolutely flush with the wall. However, the sound is pretty good, all things considered.

I used this speaker as the center channel in a 5.1 system mounted in the ceiling. Works well, good sound and easy to install. Only gripe is the attached infinity logo on the grill would rather have had a cleaner look.

I must say I am a bit of a Speaker snob. Not a follower of name brand, but at sound quality above all. There are a lot of "Pretty" speakers out there that sound like crap, and I still find that you get the best sound from a big boxy floor standing speaker. It's not rocket science, the sound engineers can fine tune the speaker to its known enclosure dimensions. Also, those tiny satellite speakers that have become so popular have gotten pretty good at "Faking" a good mid range, but even the ones that are decent cost around a grand a set and cant hold a candle to a proper floor standing loudspeaker system at half the price. That being said, my parents wanted to get rid of their big boxy system and get something easier on the eyes. Well with my hatred of the tiny satellites, and having dabbled a bit with some in-wall speakers (I am a professional home theater installer) I decided to shoot for 3 of these up front and 2 of the 6-1/2's in the rear. WOW! They are not quite as good as the

I have these speakers installed as the left, right and center channels in my home theater 7.1 setup. By no means am I an audiophile expert, so my review is highly subjective. Based on the role that these speakers play in my home theater, I can't think of any negatives associated with the sound quality.

So I have need for in wall speakers in 4 rooms...I go out and buy an inferior brand of speakers for cost savings for 1 room. The room sounded like total crap. I then go and invest in 2 pairs of the RCi60 and 1 pair of the RCi6S and they brought the rooms to life. These speakers have spectacular sound and depth. Specifically, the RCi6s surprised me with the quality of sound out of one speaker. I the RCi6s in my kitchen, which also has 10 foot ceilings and the speakers still ROCK the house!

They are also very discrete in the wall when you paint them.

All round 5/5...do not hesitate.

Great speakers, no suprise from Bose. I have owned Bose speakers for almost 20 years starting with 401s that still sound great. I am glad Bose finally came out with an in ceiling speaker.
