Gateway NV7802u 17.3-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)
If you are buying a labtop for the first time or just replacing the one you have this computer has it all, and the price is not bad either. With the 4 gb DDR3 memory and the 500 md harddrive is more than enough for everyday needs. Also the built in Webcam, WiFi and 17.3" screen are a added bonus. With Windows 7 as the operating system, it is really no different than Vista. There are only a few difference between the 2 OS, should make for an easy transition.

HP G60-549DX Laptop Notebook - Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4300 2.1GHz / 4GB DDR2 / 250GB HD / 15.6" LCD / Built-in webcam with microphone / Windows 7 Home Premium

I bought this laptop to replace my 4 year old Compaq.I bought this on sale for $429, but now it looks like that is the permanent price. Overall, I am happy with the purchase, so far everything has worked well. But I thought I'd just list a few issues for potential owners:

I do a lot of traveling and one of the main selling points for me was the built in microphone and web cam. BEWARE: The microphone and sound quality is HORRIBLE. I've barely been able to complete a phone or video call, because of the frustration from both myself and whoever I've tried to talk to. I've seen the suggestion about changing the settings in some of these reviews, and also by just doing a Google search, and while that improved the quality a little bit, it remains BAD. I'm very disappointed with this. Now, I have to invest more money in a microphone, when I shouldn't have to.

This is another small complaint, and I don't know if anyone else has had an issue with it, but when I tried to change the

I thought that i had done my homework and decided to purchase this computer. On the surface it really looked like a good computer however, within the 5 hours of using this computer it froze several times, lagged and had 3 dreaded blue screen messages and shutdowns! Not cool. I also had problems with the sound and video camera.
I will say that I didn't get the geek squad upgrades and I think this was the problem. However, i don't think you should have to buy upgrades from the store you purchased it from in order for the computer to run smoothly. In the end I returned this computer in less than 24 hours for a mac and IM VERY VERY HAPPY!
I gave mircosoft a change and they blew it, lol.

I love how light and portable it is. The quality of the laptop for the price is awesome, 4 GB of RAM with 500 GB Harddrive. I wish it didn't come with a Blueray player and lower the price by like $50, but overall I love the computer. It doesn't come without a lot of the unnecessary programs like most laptops which was nice.

My daughter who is a senior in college picked it out mostly on COLOR and because it was a Dell. It was way faster than her old computer. Loves look, feel of the computer and size of keyboard. I would recommend to anyone!

Great battery life, quickly picks up wi-fi signal. I can take it anywhere and I don' t have to carry the AC adapter.

What's not so great is that you can't know exactly until you type something and realize if the Num and Scr LK are on.

The Ac Adapter Cable sometimes blocks the air vent because the POwer Input is at the same side of the air vents, and the cylindric part of that cable is the one that may cover the air vent.

In an overall experience, it's a great laptop!!!

I am please about the new type of LED screen, but I was disappointed when I realized it didn't have a fire wire connection. Sad to think that a older model macbook has more to offer than my new updated macbook. I am still pleased about having a Intel CPU, instead of a G5. Now I can run Windows or Mac OS, but not a fan of Windows, but good to have the option.

Bought on Nov 14, got home set it up, no problems there...worked fine until tonight (5 days later)...It was in sleep mode, opened it, check some email, left it after 5 mins...came back 30 mins later and it had rebooted itself with the blue screen, kept saying not bootable, insert disk. Managed to restart it to the same screen, restart a 3rd time, I entered the setup screen, selected f4 to test the disk drive and the result was a blue screen saying hard disk check failed.... no hard disk...hard disk indicator light was not on, only power light. After that it would not shut down at all, had to remove battery to turn it off. Will not turn on all indicator lights just keep flashing & will not turn on.

I bought this laptop and was so excited. It was light, thin perfect for school. First problem, the camera did not work. Also I had this window that would pop up and it would not go away. After dealing with Dell numerous times I decided that I would return it and get another one. The second one that I got the keyboard was messed up. When I pressed i o would come along with thinking it was on numerical lock.( and it just wasn't i and o it was alot of keys stuck together) I finally figured out that I got two dell lemons. After taking back the second bad dell I decided that I would never buy a dell again! Buyers beware of dell!!!

I am overall very pleased with this laptop. HOWEVER, i am worried I might have received a defective model due to the frequent blue screens of death I've been getting out of nowhere. I have 30 days to return so we shall see if this issue continues. Until this started happening I loved the computer and it's price for the massive specs and features. Great design!

I bought this laptop and I have been using it for a week now, windows 7 is compatible with most of the programs and it has great gaming capacity. There is actually nothing to dislike about this laptop as it is fast at connecting to wireless networks and everything works well so far.
This is my first personal laptop and I am realy enjoying it. Thanks alot HP for making a value for money laptop with great capabilities.

Asus Eee PC Netbook with Intel Atom Processor - Pink

I purchased this netbook for my Mother's 80th birthday. It is her favorite color (pink). She is really good with a computer and she has been doing genealogical research for many years. This netbook is small enough for her to take with her to the library. Instead of having to write stuff down she can just type it in her netbook. She is very well satisfied with it.

I ordered this because it seemed like the best value for my money. (Office included). After a week of having it, an alert popped up stating that there was a problem with the cooling system. Took it in for service, and they gave me a refund. The guy ahead of me in line had the same one.

If you are looking for a mobile desktop replacement that is light and can play games, this it. I needed a laptop that can keep up with my desktop gaming rig (just built a new i7-920 with an ati 5870). For the last week, i have been reading reviews and comparing prices. I was leaning towards a Sager laptop, but once you add the options it is quickly over 2k. I finally went to bestbuy to look at the Asus, HP dv7 and this laptop. All the other laptops had an ugly glossy finish and the touch pads were awful. Also, the combo of this processor with a nice video card is hard to find in this form factor. I really did not want to buy a huge 10 lbs monster built out of ugly cheap glossy plastic with an unusable touchpad. I was also looking at the mac Pro, since I am that price range now, but I just cant spend that kind of money for old technology that can barley play video games at 1280x768. Apple is also slated to do a refresh with maybe a i7 cpu sometime in Q1 2010. You definatly do not want to

Well built and nice looking product. The rounded edges and sleek lines of this netbook are really nice. It has a subdued pattern on the lid that is unique. Other Features that I like are the keyboard and built in webcam.

Asus Eee PC Netbook with Intel Atom Processor - Midnight Blue

I'm quite pleased with the netbook. It's really easy to pick up and bring to meetings being so light and since the battery life allows it to just sit on my desk unplugged. My wife initially thought it looked a little like a toy, but now she asks to borrow it in the morning to check email and Facebook at breakfast.

YouTube playback is jagged and the CPU utilization is typically at least 30% often going above 75%. I don't really use the web cam, but when I've tried it it's pretty jagged also. But for working with web based apps like Gmail and Google Docs it performs quite well. I haven't used iTunes on it, but WinAmp through headphones sounds really good. I was able to tether it to my smart phone and get internet anywhere in my network, which is huge.

Windows 7 seems to run well thus far and is a simple enough operating system to get used to.

Don't expect to perform intensive tasks on this netbook, but if you think of it as an extremely portable machine for communication

HP Pavilion Laptop with AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual-Core Processor - Modern Argento

Overall I'm very happy with the DM3 one month after purchase. Great computer for someone on the road a lot. Had major problems with the pointer not functioning at all after bringing the computer out of hibernation mode which HP support was no help with. Found that if I disabled all Mutlitouch funtions the computer would work fine. Touchpad itself is OK but the buttons require excessive pressure to click. Video playback stutters a bit when in full screen while watching Hulu or youTube, but in less than full-screen performance is fine.

Overall a great, light-weight little machine if you don't need an optical drive or full-screen video performance. Great storage and I'm still amazed by its slim design and great looks. Well worth the $550.
