Excellent Sound, lots of features and all kinds of connections. Setup of sound profiles for various inputs is full featured but can get confusing. Almost too many options.

I have my receiver connected to my 50" Panasonic LCD/HDTV (you will need the video outlet cable from back of your TV to connect to the Pioneer Receiver---NO HDMI CABLE). As well i have my Pioneer Blue Ray DVD connected to the Receiver and have four (4) in Ceiling speakers (Yamaha) and a Sony (Sub-Woofer) ground level and this is just amazing the sound effects with only the receiver set @ 40 volumen level. If the volumen is increased to 60 it's just OUTSTANDING. I use this system to view NFL,MLB & NBA with every game it just sound so real like you're at the actual game. My daughters watch there movies and the sound effects are just great. It's a shame i just bought all the equipment after the New York Yankees won the World Series but i have it downloaded on my laptop and have connected my laptop as well to the system (just for this viewing ) but you ca adapt your you CP to the receiver and use the TV as your screen is just perfect. I will be setting up my seconf family after the holidays

This receiver is by far one of the best purchases that I have made when it comes to enhancing my stereo system. I mean I have some big speakers which I never could get the full use out of because of weak receivers. With this receiver I have no problems with allowing my speakers to be used at their full potential. Great clear sound, very compatible with numerous inputs including HDMI and hooking up your TV to it. Great investment.
(CAUTION ALERT) Be aware that leaving this product on for long periods of time with the top of the receiver being covered up by something to prevent the fan from blowing out the hot air could burn out the receiver like mine did. NO BLAME ON THE MANUFACTURE, I BLAME MY ROOMMATES AND THEIR CARELESSNESS. <--- Be smart when placing this in your house.

First off, I tried the Onkyo 607 to save some money and felt it to be a little lacking in the power department. So, I decided to take that back and spend a little (actually twice as much) on the 807. It was well worth the trade up. This has such a clear sound! It has punch and can really wake you up during a surprise movie scene, you know the kind like in a scary movie when the killer jumps out. The dynamics of this receiver are incredible. I also like the option of using pandora music which is great for a party. Hooking up the speaker wire is also very easy. The terminals are farther apart than most receivers and not stacked on top of each other, so it's easy to access the speaker terminals. I wholeheartedly recommend this receiver.

I've owned this receiver for approximately 2 months and couldn't be more pleased. The mass of wiring I had for the old receiver is gone, replaced by 3 HDMI cables (one out to the TV, and 2 for input from the Blu Ray and Directv receiver) Simplicity is a virtue. The sound is superior to the Onkyo I replaced and the Denon works much better with my Logitec universal remote.

Where do I start??? This was a purchase to replace an old JVC receiver that I had for years. I like the fact it has true HDMI connections and customizable radio stations. I just purchased it yesterday and couldnt wait to get home and hook it up. I also purchased the Klipsch powered subwoofer to complete my 5.1 surround sound....this receiver makes it all sound good. Wonderful purchase, just can't go wrong for the price compared to the Sony and Yamaha that were priced about the same. ($200)

This receiver was by far the best thing I have ever purchaed in my years of buying HT products. By far the best bang for the buck around $1000.00 The features on this product certainly rival some of the more expensive products. Don't just take my word... go try one out at the local BB. I took about three weeks of looking at similar products... landed on this one... and NEVER looking back. INCREDIBLE receiver.. thanks Onkyo.... My Denon has been replaced...
NOTE: on a side note, and this has happened on my Denon as well.. If you are sending your Cable Box (Comcast in particular) to your receiver via HDMI, expect to have a bunch of AUDIO hicups and Video stall. I have had Comcast out about 100 times about this.. nobody seems to know why this happens... so I ventured the forums and it appears to be something the Comcast boxes are having problems with...

I am using only three HDMI cables to hook up my entire system (73" Mitsu TV, BluRay player, and HD DVR). Three cables, so you can't get an easier setup than that. The surround sound is fantastic. I went and bought an additional center speaker and powered subwoofer to take advantage of this so make sure you did that. Also, I did have to upgrade the firmware in my TV, and also if you have any problems with this device seemingly being controlled or misconfigured by another device, turn the Kuro-link feature in this receiver off. Do not settle for a hookup that uses HD video but digital or analog audio. The difference between HD audio and other formats is startling. Sounds are crisp and clear. Even though my last system was loud, often times I could not understand what people were saying in movies. Now I hear everything clearly, not just loudly. The remote is great, switching inputs is a cinch, and the expanded surround stereo mode makes listening to classical music seem like you're right in

I bought this receiver to replace an aging Sony STR-DE925 that had finally gone to the big home theater in the sky. I recently bought the Klipsch Quintet 5 piece speaker system to go with my 10" Velodyne sub. I was disappointed with these speakers on the Sony, but when I hooked them up to this receiver, I was blown away with how great they sounded together. After running the speaker setup procedure, I was absolutely amazed by how great the surround sound worked. It is so much better than the Sony, it is like a whole different movie watching experience. I only have the 2 surround speakers hooked up right now (5.1). I can only imagine what the 7.1 must sound like. Also, don't worry about the power on this unit. 80 watts is enough to drive these speakers to the point where I could not even turn it up all the way and stand in the same room! Besides the sound quality, the real reason I bought this receiver was the HDMI upconvert feature that it offered. I wanted to run just 1 HDMI

I have to say the reviews here seriously over-rate this receiver. I wanted to replace my 25 year old Denon DRA-600 receiver with this thing. I simply plugged in all my existing components and speakers and compared. If you are used to quality sound, you will be disappointed by this receiver. Nothing is crisp -- it's as if a table cloth was placed over my speakers -- just not much dynamic range for 21st century electronics. It's not fit for your living room stereo system -- maybe for a rec room theater system or your kid's bedroom. I'm keeping my old, old receiver. Don't know what to do with this thing.

Came time to replace a (at least) 20 year old Sony receiver and this Sony certainly fit the bill. Great sound for our use / room, easy to set up (after a little playing around) and lots of features and flexibility. Hope it lasts as long as the last one.

I bought this system, with a new Samsung 1081P TV and Samsung Blueray disk player. Am not usually adverse to technical stuff, but this was a hard one to crack. The manual is definitly not intuitive, nor the setup. My initial mistake was to think that HDMI cable would reduce the wires behind the setup, so linked them up and : no sound. Going "straight" gave sound to the TV but no sound in the loudspeakers. After several hrs pondering and trying to understand the manual, I was left with the choice or returning the Yamaha, or keep trying. After about 5 attempts of 2 hrs, I was still nowhere. The loudspeakers were properly connected, (5 for surround, and 2 large High quality stereo for classical music) as after some fumbling, I got the radio to work on all speakers, but the DVD and HD satelite TV ? nothing. In desperation I asked a young geek to come, and he sat and pondered for a good hr, and finally worked out that the HDMI did not carry the sound for this Yamaha, more fumbling we connected

I bought the 919 to replace a 3-year old Pioneer 1016TX-V that served me very well, but was hamstrung in its HDMI handling capabilities. As my home theater was expanding, I needed more HDMI inputs and the ability to convert analog inputs to HDMI without the use of additional output cables to the TV. While the 1019 would have been the logical choice for me (coming from the 1016), it provided more capability than what I required, since I will not require playing a digital source in a second zone nor do I believe in tasking a receiver with video scaling (that should be the domain of the TV or input source, such as a Blu-Ray player). As such, the 919 fit the bill. I did consider the Onkyo RC-160, but have never liked how hot Onkyo receivers seem to run, and was discouraged by some early professional reviews indicating sound quality that wasn't up to par. Set-up wise, the 919 is a snap if you've dealt with other Pioneer receivers. I had previously done installations with both a 1019 and

Good Sound, Easy to Use, but very utilitarian. Very dissappointing that the you cannot process speakers/surround sound for the 3 HDMI inputs - they literally are just a pass-through for Output to your TV. Also very dissappointing that mutiple functions can be run simultaneously. Very happy with the buy, but I probably would have spent more next time and gotten a Denon or Yamaha.

Still not fully conviced about this purchase. Got it because 15-yr old Onkyo sparked and died a couple of days ago. That one worked great until then.
Disappointed for several reasons: 1) You are forced to turn it on every time to watch simple -no surround sound TV; 2) Multi-zone seems great, but it only works through regular RCA connection to another amp when it shoud also work with B speakers for zone 2; 3) Do not like the remote... it is small and cluttered... would have preffered to run all from the DirecTV remote which is great; lastly, screen could be larger and brighter with earsier-to-read fonts.
I really like the i-Pod connection, but they could have easily made that cable into a table-top docking device.
Hope this helps Pioneer in their future designs...

I bought this receiver as a replacement for an old STR-XXX Sony receiver I had that started having overload issues. I have a Sony car stereo that I absolutely love and I really liked my old Sony receiver, so I thought I would stick with Sony. I wanted something to listen to music with (mostly vinyl....no, there is no phono input) that produced decent quality audio. I didn't need surround sound or 20 audio/video inputs. Unfortunately, this receiver lacks pretty much everything...sound quality, features. There is are no source buttons....you have to scroll through inputs with a wheel.....annoying. But worst of all, the sound is pretty bad. It's rated at 100 watts per channel, but it sounds more like 15. The sound is dull and lifeless, very little bass (even with bass at full....there is no bass boost). I would not waste your time with this one. Granted, it's under $200, but here you definitely get what you pay for. I would recommend spending that $200 on a vintage amp from the 70's or 80

This is an excellent receiver for the money. I am powering 4 sets of speakers in the house and the Amp handles this task very well. It has only one draw back, that I have found in the first month, there are no power outlets on the back to assist with connecting you CD player and to syn power. However I would still recommend this unit..

I originally purchased the Onkyo TX-SR507 and was unhappy with it.. I thought it would be the right model because I only wanted 5.1 support and that model also had the universal port for the Onkyo iPod dock. I decided on the Definitive Technology Mythos and a Definitive Technology Supercube 1 as my speakers and sub and I found the 507 to be somewhat underpowered plus the 507 did not support on screen display which at the time i didn't think was that bid a deal. Well this 707 model is WAY better than the 507.. I know the wattage is only rated at 20 watts more into 8 ohms but the 707 seems much better at powering all my speakers. On the 507 I had to turn the amp to about 75 percent ( my room is fairly large but not huge) on dvd's to fill my room.. the 707 does this at about 40-45 percent of the available volume. Plus for some reason, the upgraded DAC's maybe but the sound is far superior to the 507. I've extremely pleased. Also, I thought THX Select2 Plus would just be another codex

There was one review on this product that has me worried. Occasionally you will get a bad unit what are you gonna do... I'd call Sony and get a new one.
Many new receivers from Yamaha are even lighter than this Sony, and max power ratings on receivers have always been bogus. I mean seriously who cranks of their system to the max volume with the distortion through the roof etc etc... I wouldn't use the access panel flap as a step, but its gonna handle the normal up and down motion its intended for. Last time I checked it's Sony who's equipment is preferred by Control4 (high-end home automation systems)
Read the reviews... people love the way this receiver sounds, and that's an important part of a receiver, you know, the SOUND. It has great compatibility for components, including new blu-ray HD audio formats. Wireless multi-room audio capabilities. HDMI syncing with many other Sony products, and on a personal note from my wife "its pretty".
