edgy commented on PHP Snippet: Unrealircd (Support Bot) (Quiz)  -  Feb 10, 2011
A flaw with this is that people will be able to share the support code that they need to enter.

A better way would be to make a unique hash for each user with a timestamp and username (for example) and have the bot decode it. That way codes specified will expire after a certain length of time.

@LordHawk The error message means that the URL to the ban appeal is broken. Not the configuration area. Make sure that you are using a ban appeal link generator from the description.
edgy commented on PHP Snippet: Deleted....  -  Jun 29, 2010
No, you have installed it fine but there are 2 things.

1) The $sendfrom needs to be from your domain. E.g. appeal@ucorp.info

2) You need to make an appeal URL using one of the generators in the description.

This makes no sense at all. You are sending ChanServ a load of rubbish.

Would a user want their email address to be shared with everyone in the channel?

I think anyone who has coded mIRC would be able to do this themselves! lol.

Thanks for the feedback. I have now fixed the hostmask to host, thank you for pointing it out.

Cool, maybe if ($nick isop $chan) would be better than using botadmin from the local lists.

Perl is quite nice on XChat, I believe that XChat supports Python too but I do not see that many Python scripts on the web that are made for XChat.

Don't you need permission to PM/Notice users on most networks?

edgy commented on mIRC Snippet: Random winner selector  -  Mar 30, 2010
Yeah, that's horrible to read code. We just use the stuff we were taught.

edgy commented on mIRC Snippet: Epic Nick Kill (Geek Version)  -  Feb 22, 2010
Most likely not killed from the server. Just killed if someone floods your bot which if you have looked at mIRC you can setup flood protection.
edgy commented on mIRC Snippet: MD5 Hasher  -  Feb 21, 2010
Not all of us use mIRC as our main client. This is useful for me because I'm using xchat as my main client and it does not support these features.
edgy commented on mIRC Snippet: Epic Nick Kill (Geek Version)  -  Feb 20, 2010
Watch that any flood protection on the server/channel doesn't kick/ban. Looks like it could take a lot of load on the server if someone floods it!

Nice desk but I don't think the computer would be that fast. :P
