I think this is the most underrated laptop I've ever come across, or owned for that matter. The NV52 definitely seems to be ignored in the press (e.g. no review in CNET, few reviews elsewhere) and I'm not sure why. Sure it's a crowded market place and Gateway isn't the household brand name it was in the 90s. However, this is a great quality, great LOOKING, versatile laptop. First of all, go into any retail establishment and compare the Dells, HPs and other laptops to this one - the quality difference is as readily apparent between the these and the NV (as obvious as comparing them to an Apple laptop). The layout and finish of the NV is superior - totally. The screen is above average quality, the graphics are above average, the built-in media card reader is extremely handy, the keyboard is sexy the way its flush with the chasis - I can see why some don't like it but I was never one to try to find keys by the "feel". The touch sensitive lit buttons above the keyboard are very neat. Everything else is very good for the money. Performance is nothing great, but more than adequate. For the money, this laptop is a great deal.
Just wanted to say, I bought this laptop a few days ago, and this review is spot on. It encapsulates everything I felt when I too walked into the store; surprised at the Gateway quality compared to the other many laptops sitting at BestBuy. The feel was solid, keyboard was laid out very smartly, the overall looks are attractive and very well designed. It's an eye catcher, with a nice screen, nice blend of black matte finish with metal trim and the power button on the right side, on the end of the "tube" like screen connector is great. The HDMI port is great to have, as is the memory card reader. I was surprised at the price. Don't know much about the limitations or shortcomings of the main non-Intel CPU, but so far, the machine does perform nicely. The only complaint I have is the trackpad button is far too stiff.
